The Father Almighty

Preacher: Matthew Burns Series: Life In God: The Nicene Creed Topic: Sermon Scripture: Ephesians 4:1–7, Ephesians 4:14–16

We make identity statements all the time - how we introduce ourselves at the office; the outfit we choose for the first day of school, the music we like; the grocery store where we do most of the shopping; the car we drive - each of these things is a choice we make. And we make them, in part, according to what they say about our identity.
And what each of these choices does for us in a small say, The Nicene Creed is meant to do in a much more significant way. For Christians, the Creed is our symbol; our uniform.
When we say, "I believe/ We believe" we are self-identifying with Christians around a common belief about who God is - that there is one God, and who is this God?
This God is the Father almighty, creator of heaven & earth, things visible and invisible.
And declaring God to be our Father, we are identifying as his children. But, in a gender-neutral world like ours, what does it mean to call God Father? And not just father, but Father Almighty?
Join us as we explore why, in a world of father-wounds, it is very good news to have a Father Almighty...
