Awaiting the City of Peace

Preacher: Matthew Burns Series: Far As the Curse is Found: Awaiting the Messiah Topic: Sermon Scripture: Isaiah 2:1–5

Isaiah was a prophet whose words are found in the Old Testament. But his words are quoted so often in the New Testament that Isaiah is some times referred to as the “Fifth Gospel”. Why is Isaiah so important? Because Isaiah captures our pervasive need for a redeemer - a messiah. Isaiah’s vision of God’s redemption is not just about me, it’s about societies, about the animal world, about the very creation itself.
To read Isaiah during Advent is, as Tish Harrison Warren said, “...to lean into a cosmic ache: our deep, wordless desire for things to be made right.”

Join us on Sunday as we ache for a City of Peace with the prophet Isaiah.
